It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Ms. Annabelle Gardner.

Ms. Gardner transitioned on Saturday, August 8, 2026.

Arrangements will be announced by Davis Funeral Home, LLC, of Hartsville, SC.

On Saturday, August 8, 2026, Mrs. Annabelle Gardner, our beloved mother, grandma, sister, and friend transitioned and bid farewell to this temporal home, Mother earth, as we know it. For we must be reminded that we are to rejoice and celebrate the life that has been lived and not mourn. Such a life and many memories that many shall cherish on this day and in the days ahead. 

Mrs. Annabelle Gardner was born on May 17, 1936, in Darlington County. Annabelle was the loving daughter of Harold and Lucille Lewis. 

Mrs. Annabelle received her formal education at Rosenwald Consolidated School in the Society Hill Area. 

At an early age, Mrs. Annabelle dedicated her life to Christ and became a member of New Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church. 

Early in her adult life, Mrs. Annabelle relocated to New York City. As a result of Annabelle’s strong work ethic, she was blessed with several occupations. Those positions included housekeeping, Lambda Electronics, and lastly, General Microwave where she worked until her retirement.

 Mrs. Annabelle found joy in quiet moments spent reading, shaping pottery, and keeping up with her favorite soap operas. Mrs. Annabelle was preceded in death by: her husband, Marvin Gardner; parents, Harold and Lucille Lewis; son, Ronald Lewis; daughter, Marlva Gardner, and sister, Leona Goodson. 

Those left to cherish her loving memories are: her sons: Bernard Gardner of Raleigh, NC, and Marvin E. Gardner and Steven Gardner of Sumter, SC; granddaughter of whom she shared a special bond, Mia (LaQuan) Plowden of Rembert, SC; beloved grandson, Christopher Gardner of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren: Chrystal Lewis, Shanta Oriol, Tiffany Lewis, Kourtney Gardner, Steven Gardner Jr., Sean Gardner, Kuro Kaiju, Brandon Gardner and Warren Jackson; seven great-grandchildren: Dasean Williams, Payton Gardner, Tymeah Howard, Kymoni Wilburn, Xander and Zyla Oriol and Valencia Kaiju; two sisters: Lucy Juanita Lewis of Hartsville, SC and Jessie (Delroy) Simpson of New York, NY; six nieces and nephews; her best friend, Mammie; and a host of other close relatives and friends.

 Mrs. Annabelle’s life was a testament to faith, love, and perseverance. Her gentle spirit and unwavering devotion to her family will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her. Though she has departed this earthly home, her legacy of kindness and strength continues to guide her loved ones. We take comfort in knowing that she now rests in the arms of the Lord, reunited with those who went before her, and watching over us with eternal peace.
