A Beautiful Reflection Of Love, Faith & Joy
"For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing." II Timothy 4:6-8
Today we pause to celebrate the life of a true gem who gracefully carried the roles of daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. We celebrate the vibrant ball of energy with the infectious laugh, warm spirit and radiant smile that could brighten any day, Mrs. Annie Ruth Sims. She was ALWAYS the life of the party making everyone feel loved, welcomed and right at home.
Mrs. Annie Ruth Sims was born on July 9, 1962 in Darlington County to Roland and the late Annie Lee Dickey. Affectionately known as Porkey to her family and close friends, to know her was truly to love her.
She was a proud graduate of Rosenwald High School, Class of 1980. Annie began her early employment at Nytronics in Darlington, SC. She later worked in upholstery assembly at Stingray Boats, where she poured not only her skills but joy and laughter into her work. Known by many as "Ms. Annie", she dedicated nearly three decades of service before her illness.
Annie was a devoted and faithful member of New Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as a member of the YWA and the Deaconess Ministry. Her love for God and her church family was evident in all she did.
She was united in holy matrimony to Isaiah Sims "her Babe" on June 22,1983. Their loving union was blessed with two daughters. Annie found joy in life's simple pleasures; shopping (especially at her favorite store, Walmart), dining out, spending quality time with family, whether traveling or gathering at her home. She was famously known for making the BEST sweet potato pies this side of Heaven. Above all, she loved her family deeply and placed God at the center of her life.
On Tuesday, April 7, 2026 Annie peacefully transitioned from this earthly life into eternal rest.
She was preceded in her death by her loving mother, Annie Lee Dickey. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of her father, Roland Dickey; her devoted husband, Deacon Isaiah Sims; two loving daughters, Tysheika (Denardo) Sims of Charlotte, NC and Jasmine L. Sims of Atlanta, GA; two precious granddaughters, MaKenzie Bell and Londyn Bell of Charlotte, NC; five sisters, Janet (Eugene) Tedder, Kimberly Small, LaKeisha Dickey, Pearlie Floyd all of Darlington, SC and Margret (Larry) Coleman Crosby of Sumter, SC; two brothers, Robert (Denise) Smith and Craig (Jackie) Dickey o f Darlington, SC; five sisters-in-law, five brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, godchildren, and other close relatives and friends.
Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
