With deep love and cherished memories, we celebrate the life of Carmilton Brewer, Jr., a devoted family man, respected business owner, and faithful friend, who peacefully departed this life on June 20, 2026.

 Carmilton Brewer, Jr. was born on November 26, 1945, in Darlington County of South Carolina, to the late Bishop Carmilton Brewer, Sr. and the late Flossie Blakney Brewer. Carl Jr., as he was affectionately known, received his education in the South Carolina Public School System and graduated from Butler High School in 1962. Shortly thereafter, he moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, where he spent much of his life building meaningful relationships and establishing deep roots within the community. Charlotte became more than his home—it became the place where he pursued his dreams, raised his family, and left a lasting impact on countless lives.

 A hardworking and determined entrepreneur, Carl Jr. proudly owned and operated Nu-Way Paint and Body Shop and Nu-Way Charter Incorporated for many years. Through his dedication, craftsmanship, and commitment to excellence, he earned the trust and respect of customers, employees, and colleagues alike. His work was more than a profession; it was a reflection of the pride he took in serving others and providing for his family. 

Carl Jr. was reared in a home grounded in faith, honor, and a sincere love for God. He was a lifelong and active member of Wesley Temple United Holiness Church and later became a member of St. Paul Baptist Church in Charlotte, North Carolina. His love for gospel music and ministry led him to serve faithfully as manager of the renowned gospel group, The Sensational Travelers, a role he carried out with dedication and pride. 

Above all, Carl Jr. was a family man. He found his greatest joy in spending time with those he loved. Whether sharing wisdom, offering a helping hand, or simply enjoying the company of family and friends, he made everyone feel valued and appreciated. His strength, kindness, and unwavering love created a legacy that will continue through generations. 

In his leisure time, Carl Jr. enjoyed playing his guitar and restoring old cars. He especially treasured gathering with friends for weekly breakfast fellowship. Later in life, one of his greatest joys was staying connected with family and friends through long conversations on the telephone, never missing an opportunity to check on those he loved. 

He leaves to cherish his precious memories his beloved children: Durrell Brewer of McBee, South Carolina; Cartez Brewer of Glen Easton, West Virginia; Carla (Norris) Wilson and Tomeka (Casey) Terry, both of Hartsville, South Carolina; grandchildren: Jahalia Wilson, Bristol Terry, Keeley Terry, Bethany Terry, Jarvis Wilson, and Paige Wilson; one greatgrandson, Roman Oliver; his stepmother, Amanda Scott Brewer; sisters: Carrie (Kenneth) Alford, Annie (Gregory) Thompson, and Callestine Benjamin, all of Hartsville, South Carolina, Laura (Earl) Miller of Jefferson, South Carolina, Evelyn Herring of Columbia, South Carolina, and Grace Brayboy of Fayetteville, North Carolina; brothers: Sidney Brewer and Willie (Shirley) Scott, both of Hartsville, South Carolina, and Luther (Edith) Benjamin of Killeen, Texas; foster brothers: Windell (Denise) Johnson of McBee, South Carolina and Bishop Bennie James of Columbia, South Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends, and loved ones. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bishop Carmilton Brewer, Sr. and Flossie Blakney Brewer; siblings: Minister Levester Brewer, Sandra Brewer Ervin, Minister Diretha Brewer Jackson, Willie “Bud” Brewer, Reverend Johnny L. Brewer, and Deacon Charles Scott; foster brothers, Bobby Roary, Garfield Black, and Lee Ernest Moore; and granddaughters, Ferren Robinson and Crislyn ‘Meyah’ McFarlan. 

Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we find comfort in the memories he leaves behind and the example he set through a life marked by hard work, integrity, faith, and love. His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

May his memory be a blessing and a source of comfort to all who loved him.
