Eddie Lee Cabbagestalk

We regret to inform you of the passing of Mr. Eddie (Knockout) Cabbagestalk.

Mr. Cabbagestalk passed on Monday, December 30, 2024, at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, SC.  

The family will receive friends at: 1002 Tuskeegee St. Hartsville, SC. 

Arrangements will be announced by Davis Funeral Home, LLC of Hartsville, SC.

Mr. Eddie Lee Cabbagestalk was born August 4, 1945 in Hartsville SC. He was the loving son of Fred and Ella Moore Cabbagestalk.

On December 30, 2024 Eddie answered the Lord’s call and entered eternal rest. Today, Monday January 6, 2025 we reminisce and replay good memories and happy times.

Eddie was affectionately called “Knock Out” by all who knew and loved him. He was educated in the Darlington County Public Schools where he excelled in his studies. He graduated from Butler High School, class of 1965.

Eddie’s first job was a shoe repairer and shiner. He also worked various plant jobs. He was a long-life self-contractor painter. Eddie attended various churches throughout his life.

Eddie enjoyed talking about playing football for Butler High School of Hartsville SC. He was a diehard fan of Hartsville Red Foxes. He attended many games until his health started declining. Dallas Cowboys was his favorite football team. He wasn’t a stranger to anybody he met. He knew many people. He had a character and personality of his own. He enjoyed telling jokes. Anyone that he came in contact with, walked away laughing.

Until his health started to decline, Eddie was a very elegant, properly attired dresser. His clothes always looked like they were dry cleaned. He took pride in how he dressed and that is why Eddie would always take the time and iron his clothes. He would also iron other people clothes if they were in his presence. If you were around him and your shoes did not look right, he would ask you to remove them so he could clean them up and shine them. Most people knew Eddie by the name “Knock Out.” They would often say he was the cleanest man in town.

Those surviving to cherish his memory are his sons, Reginald (Amy) Cabbagestalk, Lamont (Adrian) Cabbagestalk, Garrett Campbell, Catlin Edwards, Shelton (Rochelle) Ketter, Mondre Edwards, all of Hartsville, SC, and Darrell (Kim) Edward of Raleigh NC; daughters, Shirley (Eddie) Cabbagestalk Best, April (Lavar) Harris, Kimberly Edwards, Shenitha Blakney, Deonne Blakney, Tiffany (John) McClain all of Hartsville SC and Dana (Christopher) Wesley of Denver, CO; forty-six grandchildren, forty-one great grandchildren; special godson, George Brown, Jr; host of nieces, nephews, other close relatives and special friends.
