Helen Blakney Bristow

It is with a heavy heart that we inform you of the passing of Ms. Helen Bristow.

Ms. Bristow passed away on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, SC.

The family will receive friends at: 105 E. Gate Drive, Hartsville, SC.

Arrangements will be announced by Davis Funeral Home, LLC of Hartsville, SC.

“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, not crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”          Revelation 21:4 

Today, we celebrate the life of Mrs. Helen Bristow. Death of a loved one is the most severe test that one will ever face. With our trust and faith in God, we will rise above our griefs. We find comfort in knowing that our beloved Helen is at peace now. 

Helen Bristow was born in Darlington County on September 12, 1961, to the late Lizzie and Clyde Blakney, Sr. She was educated in the Lee County public school system. She departed this earthly life on Wednesday, November 5, 2025. 

Helen’s career was in household management. She was a housekeeper by trade, but she had a passion for cleaning and helping others. 

In her free time, Helen enjoyed dancing, word puzzles, eating, spending time with family, and shopping at Goodwill. 

Helen was preceded in death by: her mother, Lizzie Blakney; father, Clyde Blakney, Sr.; Betty Blakney Muldrow, Rosetta Hough, and Clyde Blakney, Jr. 

Surviving to cherish Helen’s fondest memories are: her husband, James Westly Bristow; daughter, Sharon Bristow (Kendrick Littles); grandchild, Alexis Bristow; great-grandchildren, Arian Bristow and Londynn Burris; brothers: Johnny Blakney, John (Rudin) Blakney, and Melvin Blakney; sisters: Winnie (Ike) Mccollough, Evelyn Johnson, Barbara (Mike) Coe, and Ruby B. Lee; special friends, Purvis Bristow and Nancy Driggers; and a host of nieces, nephews, other close relatives and friends. 

Rest in peace, Helen, for you will forever be in our hearts.
