It is with a heavy heart that we inform you of the passing of Mr. James Peoples.
Mr. Peoples passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center.
The family will receive friends at: 228 Leaird Lane, Jefferson, SC 29718.
Arrangements will be announced by Davis Funeral Home, LLC of Hartsville, SC.

Once more a human spirit has taken flight at the call of the Heavenly Father to the mansion prepared for him from the foundations of the earth by an all-wise, loving, all-knowing and just God. Mr. James Louis Peoples answered his call Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center in Hartsville, SC.
James was born February 9, 1942, in McBee, SC (Chesterfield County). He was the son of the late Easphert Brown Peoples.
James received his formal education in Chesterfield County’sSchool System. Following high school graduation, James enlisted in the United States Army. After departure from the United States Army, James moved to Washington, DC and worked as a correctional officer at Lorton Correctional Facility in Lorton, VA.
At an early age, James was taught about Jesus and Christianity.
James found pleasure in attending flea market auctions and drag races, as well as selling fruits and vegetables within the community.
James was preceded in death by: his daughter, Courtney P. Campbell; son, Derrick Halle and three brothers: Jim Peoples, Burl Peoples, and Steve Peoples.
Surviving to cherish James’ memories and continue his legacy are: children: Robert (Hope) Sam and Carter Bishop of Hartsville, SC, Eva Caudle Jowers of Jefferson, SC, Wanda Haile of New Jersey, Tracie Peoples of Washington, DC, and James (Malinda) Ingram of Charlotte, NC; siblings: Frances Summers of Baltimore, MD, Willene Sykes of Baltimore, MD, and Henry (Ricky) Barness and Wright Peoples, both of McBee, SC; 17 grandchildren; 23 greatgrandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; special friends: Aaron Jowers, Jewel Lewis, Hazel (Red Man) Brockington, Samella Wright, Denise Wright (caregiver), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other close relatives and friends.
James will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Rest in peace, James
