Jeanette (Ruff House) Montgomery

It is with a heavy heart that we inform you of the passing of Ms. Jeanette (Ruff House) Montgomery.

Ms. Montgomery passed away on Sunday, November 2, 2025 at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center in Hartsville, SC.

The family will receive friends at: 1016 Tuskeegee Street, Hartsville, SC.

Arrangements will be announced by Davis Funeral Home, LLC of Hartsville, SC.

Today, we celebrate the life of Ms. Jeanette “Ruff House” Montgomery. Losing a loved one is one of the deepest pains known to humanity. The emptiness it brings cannot be measured with words, and the longing for one more moment, one more word, or one more smile can be overwhelming. Through it all, God will provide a powerful source of comfort, hope, and healing. 

Jeanette “Ruff House” Montgomery was born April 10, 1963, to Thomasina Miles and Edward Ruffin. She departed this earthly life on Sunday, November 2, 2025. 

Jeanette received her formal education through the Darlington County Public School System and graduated from Butler High School in 1982. After graduating, Jeanette worked several jobs to provide for herself. She worked as a cashier and also did yard work for residents in the Hartsville community.

 Jeanette was a kind and humble person. She had a sense of humor that could make anyone smile or laugh, especially when they were having a bad day. She loved to watch the Redskins and spend time with her cats. Jeanette will be missed by all who knew and loved her. 

Jeanette was preceded in death by her loving parents: mother, Thomasina Miles and father, Edward Ruffin; her siblings: Ronnie Thomas, Aaron Johnson, James Edward Dowdy, Robert Johnson, Dionne Johnson, Linda Dowdy Graham, and Janie Mae Dixon.

 Those left to cherish Jeanette’s precious memories are: siblings: Jerome Jackson, Clayton Mellette, Ezra Wallace, Eric Patterson, Tommy Lee Johnson, Ella Mae Cabbagestalk, Mary Frances, Veldria Mellette, Tameka Patterson, Deborah Dowdy, Natalie Ruffin, Audry Bullock, and Joette Scarborough; close and special friends, Isaac Leroy Graham and Demetrius Hammonds; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other close relatives and friends.
