John Frederick Heidt,Jr

We regret to announce the passing of Mr. John (Freddie) Heidt, Jr.  

Mr. Heidt passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, in Chicago, IL.  

Arrangements will be announced by Davis Funeral Home, LLC of Hartsville, SC.

Mr. John Frederick Heidt, Jr. aka “Freddie” was born on November 27, 1956 in Chicago, Illinois and gained his wings January 22, 2025 at Loyola Hospital in Maywood, Illinois. He was born to the late John Frederick Heidt, Sr. And Anna Hazel Smith.

In the early stages of life, he lived with both his parents and his two sisters, Concelia Simone and Arbadella. While living in Society Hill, SC he attended Rosenwald Elementary and High Schools. John’s parents and siblings moved to Chicago, Illinois where they became members of the Religion of Islam as taught by The Honorable Elijah Muhammad.

John initially attended the University of Islam in Chicago, Illinois. He graduated high school from Sister Clara Muhammad University and completed two years of college and received his associate’s degree. After graduation, John worked in various capacities, one being an international flight attendant for TWA Airlines where he flew worldwide, and truly enjoyed. In September 1985, John was hired as a Chicago police officer and during his thirty-year tenure, he worked at the Second and Sixth Police Districts, Gang Strike Force, and Mass Transportation Units. John also was a bus driver.

Some of his hobbies included motorcycle riding, playing poker and chess. He enjoyed listening to rock music. John retired from the Chicago Police Department.

John was preceded in death by his parents John Frederick Heidt, Sr and Anna Hazel Smith and one sister Concelia Simone.

John leaves to cherish his fond memories the love of his life Marianne Williams, Chicago, Illinois; two daughters Nyree Davon Gilbert of Florence SC and Ahna Capri Heidt of Chicago, Illinois; one sister Arbadella Heidt, Hartsville SC and two grandsons Justin and Tyree Gilbert; three great-grandchildren Kailee Lovell, Anissa and Nia Gilbert; special nephew/son Christopher Heidt Sr and a special niece Takira Heidt; a special grandniece Ricky Smith and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends
