Johnny Edward Benjamin,Sr.

With heavy hearts, we regret to inform you of the passing of Mr. Johnny E. Benjamin.

Mr. Benjamin passed away on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at his residence.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm at: 605 West McIver Road, Darlington, SC

Arrangements will be announced by Davis Funeral Home, LLC, of Hartsville, SC.

“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain; for the former things ae passed away.”                                               Revelation 21:4

On Sunday, August 10, the earthly temporary life of Johnny Edward Benjamin, Sr. peacefully came to an end as he gained his wings to take flight for his eternal life in heaven. 

Johnny Edward Benjamin Sr. was born June 18, 1935 to the late James Benjamin, Sr. and Janie Hunter Benjamin. 

Johnny worked hard throughout his life providing for his family. He worked in maintenance. Johnny enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. He

loved cook outs, family gatherings and fishing. Johnny will be missed by many because he knew how to treat others.

Johnny was raised in a Christian home where the teachings of Jesus was stressed. Johnny was a member of New Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church.

Johnny was preceded in death by his wife Shirley T. Benjamin; sisters Dorothy Thompson, Gennie Benjamin, and Linda Swinney.

Those who shared the joys and sorrows of life with him and survive to cherish his memory are: children Deborah Fulton, Columbia SC; Johnny Benjamin Jr. and Kevien Benjamin both of Darlington SC and Alvin Lee (Andrea) Benjamin of Columbus GA; twelve grandchildren, five great- grandchildren; siblings James (Doretha) Benjamin, Jr; Darlington SC and Carolyn (Billy) Forte Hartsville SC; sister in law Christine Isaiah; brothers in law Lloyd Thompson, Jr. and Joseph Thompson; as well as a host of family and friends.
