It is with sorrow that we inform you of the passing of Mr. Johnny Blakney.


Mr. Blakney passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2026.

The family will receive friends at: 1941 Garden Valley Dr. Hartsville,SC.


Arrangements will be announced by Davis Funeral Home, LLC, of Hartsville, SC.

“Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live; and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.” John 11:25–26 

Mr. Johnny Blakney, Sr. was born in Bishopville, SC on May 20, 1945, to Louise and Clyde Blakney. 

Johnny received his primary education in the Lee County public schools. He spent much of his professional career working at Rainbow Fertilizer Mill, where his dedication, commitment, and strong work ethic were admired by all who knew him.

 Johnny worshipped at both St. Matthew Holiness Church and Mt. Beulah Church, where he found strength, fellowship, and comfort in his faith.

 Johnny enjoyed spending time outdoors, with fishing being one of his favorite pastimes and a source of great peace and simple pleasure. He also enjoyed gathering at Foxes Corner convenience store, where he spent countless moments visiting, laughing, and sharing time with family and friends. 

Johnny now reunites with: his parents, Louise and Clyde Blakney; wife, Nancy Blakney; daughter, Pamela Blakney Lighty; son, Anthony Sam; and siblings: Betty Blakney Muldrow, Rosetta Hough, Clyde Blakney, Jr. and Helen Blakney Bristow. 

Johnny leaves behind family and friends who will hold his memory close to their hearts. Those who remain to honor his life include: his children: Mary Blakney (Naz) Stevens, Libby Blakney, Jennifer Blakney (Michael) Frazier; Reginald Blakney, Johnny (Cheryl) Blakney, Jr., Bobby (Catina) Hart, Sandra (Leroy) Harris, and Conteasha Blakney (Calvin) McPhail; bonus children, Tevin Wesley and Tiffany Adams; siblings: John Blakney, Melvin Blakney, Winnie McCollough, Evelyn Johnson, Barbara Coe, and Ruby (Blakney) Lee; special friend, Debra McDonald; 22 grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other close relatives and friends.
