It is with great sorrow that we inform you of the passing of Mr. Lee Ernest Squire.
Mr. Squire passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at his residence.
Arrangements will be announced by Davis Funeral Home, LLC of Hartsville, SC.
“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” Revelation 21:4
Today, as we bid farewell to our beloved Mr. Lee Ernest Squire, we are not saying goodbye but thank you. Thank you for the love, for the laughter, and for the lessons Thank you for the joy, for the memories, and for the dreams.
Mr. Lee Squire was born September 30, 1959, to Viola G. Squire and Roy Carolina. Lee Ernest entered eternal rest on Thursday, October 23, 2025.
Lee affectionately called “Old Hand” received his formal education in the Darlington County public school system. He graduated from Hartsville High School, class of 1977. He enhanced his education and received a degree from Florence-Darlington Technical College.
Lee was employed by Hartsville Fertilizer Mill and Sonoco.
Lee was a superior athlete. He was the man, the myth, the legend in billiards, basketball, softball and football. Not only did he enjoy playing sports, but he also enjoyed watching them. His favorite pastimes were spending time with his family and friends and listening to music. He loved entertaining everyone with his jokes and dancing.
Lee was preceded in death by: his wife, Sharon Ann Squire; his mother, Viola G. Squire; father, Roy Carolina; a brother, Mitchell Gibson and a sister, Shirley Cranford.
Lee (Old Hand) memories and legacy will be eternally cherished by: his daughters, Kiesha Tornia (Gerald) Johnson and Lemon (Kadeem McPhail) Josey; sons, Daniel (Cassandra) Perkins and Lee Durante McDaniel; grandchildren: Oyoma Peterson, Tyrek Peterson, Danile Perkins, Tyrone Perkins, Angela Perkins, Devonna Perkins, Jaronte Perkins, KaDajah Williams, Trinity Josey, Shandrea Halmond, DJ Johnson, Kingston McDaniel, Prince Josey, and Chi’Nyla Loriahnna Manigault; brothers: Edward (Patsy) Gibson, William James Squire, Alvin (Marie) Squire, Alphonso Squire, and Franklin (Linda) Squire; sister, Rosemary McRaven; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other close relatives and friends.
Rest in peace, our dear “Old Hand”. You will always be loved, always be missed, and forever be remembered.
