Many desired to have their life well lived. A life where others can bear witness to contributions that have made a notable impact in their lives. A life where others can say that the world is a much better place now that you’ve passed this way. A well-lived life is one of remarkable character, impeccable integrity, spiritual responsibility and accountability, and a genuine love and care for people. This was the life of Mother Lillian Celestine Fulwood Alford ‘Teenie’. To know her was to love her and she never held back on what she wanted you to know. She was a straight-shooter. SMILE

Mother Teenie was born to the late John and Lillie Echols-Fulwood. This blessed event occurred on August 23, 1925 in Lee County, South Carolina. As God saw fit, she departed this life on Thursday, July 6, 2023, peacefully at home.

Mother Teenie accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at an early age. She was a member of the Sixth Street Church of God, Hartsville, South Carolina where she served faithfully. She always loved growing gladiolas and would decorate the church yearly in the month of June. She served as an Usher, a Missionary, Choir member and Hospitality Committee. She and her husband, Aaron Alford, Sr farmed and grew large gardens. When it came time to harvest, they would always give back to the community and to those in need. She later joined the New Beginnings Temple of Praise ministry under the leadership of her Son-in-Law, Senior Pastor Dr. John Q. Duncan, I and presently her daughter, Pastor Dr. Deloris A. Duncan. She was a very faithful member who always supported whatever was going on within the church ministry, and did so continuously until her health declined.

Mother Teenie was preceded in death by her parents: John and Lillie Echols-Fulwood, her husband Aaron Alford, Sr.; her children: Aaron Alford, Jr., Glennette Rose Marie Alford-Curry and Weldon Alford; two Grandchildren: Chase Allen Mumford, Tiffany O’Neal and two Great-grandchildren; three Son-in-laws: Curtis ‘C-Blo’ Washington, John Q. ‘Mike’ Duncan, I and Ronald A. Mumford whom she loved. She was also preceded in death by her siblings: Stephen Fulwood, Ruth Fulwood, Rovena Mathis, Clifton ‘Sonnie Boy’ Fulwood and Joseph ‘Busta’ Fulwood.

Mother Teenie leaves her legacy of love to: her daughters Jacqueline Washington and Beulah A. Mumford both of Hartsville, South Carolina; Deloris A. Duncan, Marion, South Carolina; her sons Isaiah Alford [Denise Parker], Washington, DC and Kenneth Lee [Carrie] Alford, Hartsville, South Carolina. A Son-in-Law Calvin Curry, Pearlington, MS. She had 17 Grandchildren of which four she helped to raise: Kerton L. Washington, Kevin D. Durant, John Q. Duncan, II all of Charlotte, North Carolina and Shawn D. [Ava] Washington of Hartsville, South Carolina. Also, she had 24 Great-grandchildren, 1 Great-great grand; a Sister-in-Law: Minnie Lee George, Darlington, SC and her cat ‘Carmello’. She leaves to cherish her memories the following Special Friends: Deacon and Mrs. Donald & Thelma Bowens; Ronnie & Laurie Jordan; Junior & Doris Francis; Rosemary Leonard; Beatrice Lester, Maxine Bristow; adopted Grandson Jeremy Conner and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Mother Teenie has some special nieces and nephews who all believed that they were her favorite: Reginald Alford, Delvonnie Burgess, Bessie ‘Munk’ Hines, Rosa A. Fulwood, Ernestine F. Greene and Nita. A special cousin Willie Lewis Miller, Hopkins, SC who visited her often. God had favored Mother Teenie with so, so many extra Children, Grandchildren, Great-grandchildren and Great-great grandchildren who grew to call her Mother, Ma, Muh Alford, Grandma, Ms. Lillie, Lil’Woadie and Boo.

A Special “Thank You” to her caregivers Ila Hickson; Joyce Gerald, Rhonda Bridges from All Care Givers, Marion, South Carolina, her bus driver Walt Livingston, Jr. from St. Paul Daycare, Mullins, SC and Mr. Kooley from Precise Medical Transport, Marion, South Carolina.
