“Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. 4 Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight”. 1 Peter 3:3-4

Today we salute and celebrate the Life of Mrs. Louella Benjamin

Mrs. Louella Benjamin was born July 9, 1931, in Darlington County, daughter of Wilkin and Rosa Bell Brown. She was educated in the Darlington County Public School System and retired from Hartsville Manufacturing Company after many years of dedicated service. She was very vibrant and a well loved woman of GOD. She accepted the LORD as Savior at an early age at Green Hill Baptist Church and she enjoyed working for the LORD. She later moved her membership to New Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church where she served in song and service.

Mrs. Louella departed this life on Friday, May 8, 2026, at home surrounded by her love ones. Her presence shall surely be missed by all who knew and loved her. Through faith may family and friends find comfort in their thoughts of her experiencing no more pain or sorrow, but being at rest now with no more suffering to bear.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, Wilkin and Rosa Bell Brown; step-father, Warrick Brown; husband, George Benjamin; son, Howard Benjamin; brothers, Murray Walls, and Wilkin Brown, Jr., and sisters: Azzie Lee Brown, Ida Mae Booker, Eleanor Waldron, Louise Brown, Mary “Lois” Brown, and Lillie Mae Brown.

She leaves to cherish her memory: daughters, Mrs. Mary “Doris” Arrington of Darlington, South Carolina and Ms. Vanessa Tucker of Sumter, South Carolina; sons: Lee Ernest Benjamin and Paul L. Benjamin, both of Darlington, South Carolina, William R. Benjamin (Jacquelyn) of Conyers, Georgia, and Henry A. Benjamin (Ethel) of Darlington, South Carolina; a beloved sister, Virginia Lincoln of Richmond, Virginia; 22 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other close relatives.
