It is with great sorrow that we inform you of the passing of Mrs. Lucille McDonald.
Mrs. McDonald, of Darlington, passed away on Friday, December 26, 2025 at McLeod Hospital in Florence, SC.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at 1110 Valley Creek Drive, Darlington, SC.
Arrangements will be announced by Davis Funeral Home, LLC of Hartsville, SC.
Lucille Graham McDonald, 78, of Hartsville, SC, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 26, 2025, at McLeod Regional Medical Hospital surrounded by family. Born on August 21, 1947, she was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished sister, and adoring grandmother whose warmth touched countless lives.
A proud graduate of Rosenwald High School in Society Hill, SC, Lucille carried herself with grace and dignity throughout her life.
Throughout her life, Lucille demonstrated a strong work ethic and dedication, serving her community through employment at Clockman in Society Hill, SC; Sara Lee Hosiery; and Byerly Hospital/Carolina Pines in Hartsville, SC, where she touched many lives through her faithful service.
Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest McDonald; her parents, Nero Graham and Essie Mae Graham; her sister, Lillian Wright; her beloved son, Henry N. Graham; her son-in-law, Orlando and her brother-in-law, Lawrence “Larry” Ackwood.
PROOF She is survived by her children: James (Kimberly) Graham of Columbia, SC; Sherri Taylor of Darlington, SC; Ernestine (Gregory) Hamlin of Darlington, SC; Tonya James of Society Hill, SC; Ejuanica McDonald of Hartsville, SC; and Tammy (Mike) Brownlee of Greenwood, SC; as well as her daughter-in-law, Angela Graham of Hartsville, SC.
Lucille's legacy continues through her loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews who will forever treasure her memory. She is also survived by her siblings: John (Lucille) Graham, Raymond (Bobbie) Graham, Henry (Betty) Graham, Roger (Linda) Graham, Nero Graham, Linda (Terry) Newton, Shirlbee Ackwood, Roemae Gilles, Joyce Graham, and Michael (Vista)Graham.
One of Lucille's greatest joys was being a grandmother. She delighted in spending time with her grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, nieces and nephews. Showering them with unconditional love, wisdom, and her signature warmth.
Lucille had many passions that brought her joy. She loved working on word search puzzles and was a talented artist with a remarkable gift—she could look at any picture and skillfully recreate it through her drawings, a talent that amazed and delighted those who knew her.
Lucille's gentle spirit, unwavering faith, and loving presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
