Today with heavy hearts we come to celebrate the Matriarch of the family, praise God for the life she lived and to honor her legacy.
On Saturday, December 30, 2023, our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, Cousin, and Friend, Sister Magnolia Little affectionately called “Mom” took the master’s hand and quietly slipped away to be with the Lord.
Magnolia was born in Darlington County on May 5, 1942. She was the daughter of the late Preston Hunter and the late Idella Graham Hunter. She received her formal education at Rosenwald School in Society Hill.
At a young age, Magnolia met and united in Holy Matrimony to the late James Edward Jones, Sr. and unto this union 7 children were born. A son, James “Porkey” Jones, Jr. preceded her in death.
Some years later, Magnolia was joined in Holy matrimony to Rev. Otis Little, her beloved husband, with whom she shared remainder of her life.
Magnolia was a true woman of God who knew and loved the Lord. She proudly worked as Head Cook at Roses Cafeteria where she was known for preparing dishes like no other. She was a pillar in her neighborhood. She fed her family, friends and community with lots of love and affection.
At an early age, Magnolia professed her faith in Jesus Christ and joined New Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the Kitchen Committee. She was also a member of the Flower Ladies and sang on the Gospel Choir.
Magnolia was kindhearted, loving and always ready to open her heart and her home to anyone in need. She led a full and complete life and welcomed to rest from her earthly labor as she peacefully transitioned to her home on high.
She will be missed tremendously by her family and so many others whose lives she touched.
Those who are left to forever cherish her memory are: her beloved husband, Rev. Otis D. Little; daughters: Eva Franklin and Deloris (Chris) Williamson of Florence, SC, Maxine (Micheal) Ennis of Blandenburg, MD, Mary (William) George of Darlington, SC, Cora (Marshall) Bacote of Lawrenceville, GA; son, Jason (Monica) Jones of Jacksonville, FL; sister, Nettie Gant of Florence, SC; brother, George Hunter of Hartsville, SC; three sisters-in-law: Earline Hunter, Geraldine Hunter and Catherine Hunter. She also leaves 18 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and 4 great–great-grandchildren; special friends: Margaret Benjamin and Family and Mary Josey; adopted daughter, Veronica Dubose; goddaughter, Kameshia Williamson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
