It is with sorrow that we inform you of the passing of Mr. Milton T. Brockenberry.

Mr. Brockenberry, of Bishopville, passed away on Monday, February 9, 2026.

Arrangements will be announced by Davis Funeral Home, LLC of Hartsville, SC.

“He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” Revelation 21:4 

As we honor our beloved, Apostle Milton Thomas Brockenberry, may these words bring healing to the hurt that death has wrought. Apostle Brockenberry has answered the summons that sounds for all people, for we are sojourners upon earth, and our times are in God’s hands.

 Apostle Milton Thomas Brockenberry was born January 18, 1961, in Milford, Connecticut to Matthew Newsom Junior and Mildred E. Brockenberry. He gained his heavenly wings on Monday, February 9, 2026, at McLeod Regional Medical Center. 

Apostle Brockenberry received his education in the public schools of Darlington County. He graduated from Butler High School, Class of 1979. He continued his education at Suffolk Community College, studying Child Behavior and Nursing. He also attended Liberty University majoring in Biblical Studies. 

Apostle Brockenberry was employed as a Security Officer at Byerly Hospital. His professional journey also embraced education in that he was a school teacher for the special needs and disabled. In his pastime, he enjoyed fishing and watching NFL games. He was a true Pittsburgh Steelers fan. 

Apostle Brockenberry was a member of St. John United Methodist Church. He was a man that understood that “precious in the eyes of the Lord is the death of his faithful ones” Psalm 116:5. 

Apostle Brockenberry was preceded in death by: his father, Matthew Newsom Junior; mother, Mildred E. Brockenberry; the Late Reverend Samuel J. Young and the late Dorothy M. Young whom Milton was raised by; sisters, Doris Capers and Brenda Lee Newsome; and brother, William Brockenberry. 

Apostle Milton Thomas Brockenberry leaves to carry his legacy and cherish his memories: his special friend, Sandra “Tootie” Byrd; children: Jacquez Brockenberry, Milanda Brockenberry, Quinton Brockenberry, and Sierra Byrd; siblings: Julie (Terry) Wheeler, Robert (Tonya) Brockenberry, Thomas Fields, Wilson Fields, John Fields, Terra Sorreall, and Shanda Peeler; aunts: Carol Brown, Joan Daniels, Edna Dacers Seymour, and Marcia Diggs; nieces: Antonette (Mark) Pinckney and Keylana Wheeler; nephews, Nigel Brockenberry and Israel Brockenberry; special nephew, Jimmy (Ikey) Denise Capers; special cousin, Gloria Green; buddy, Daryl Coe; friends: Desmond Harrison, Jimmy Collier, Marion J. Edwards, Kim Luckey, and Juilette Miller; and a host of cousins and other close relatives and friends.

 The family of Apostle Milton Thomas Brockenberry sincerely appreciates the support provided by: Carolina Pines, Center Well Home Health Agency, McLeod Hospital ICU Unit, Coastal Health Home Health Agency, Hartsville Surgical Center, the entire St. John United Methodist Church Family, and all other family and friends.
