Today, we celebrate the homegoing of Mrs. Rosena Sue Miller who departed this earthly life on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center. Rosena was born in McColl, South Carolina to the late James and Hannah Smith on December 15, 1940. She was one of five children.
In her early years, she worked hard as a farm hand, housekeeper and factory worker. She became a mother of three children and instilled in them her virtues and compassion. She was a woman who loved her family and friends.
Rosena was a lifelong member of New Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church where she attended faithfully until she became the primary caretaker to one of her children who needed around the clock care. With a heart of gold, Rosena cared for not only her own family but anyone who needed her strong presence. She loved the Lord and she loved to listen to gospel music.
Rosena loved to engage in family events, like cook outs. She enjoyed cooking for her family, specially making biscuits. She liked to put together jigsaw puzzles and upon completion of the puzzles, she would hang them up in her home for all to see. She found joy in spoiling her grands and great grands. Rosena found pleasure in the simple things in life, like making quilts, sewing, and fishing.
Rosena was preceded in death by her: son, James McCoy; parents, James and Hanna Smith; sister, Janie Smith; brother, John Smith; uncle, Moses Smith; and aunts, Caroline Simms, Libby Graham.
Left to cherish her loving memories are her daughters Bessie McCoy and Katie M. Mouzon; special god-daughter Patricia (Renolds) Gandy; a close friend that she treated like her daughter Gloria Davis; niece Elaine Smith; great niece Andrea F. Smith; very special cousins Janie S. Dundy and Mary Thompson; grandchildren Jermell (Lakenhia) McCoy, Barbara (Willie Jr.) Smith, Yasmen McCoy and Kirra Harris; great-grandchildren Kwelliesha, Kwaumaine, Kemohn, Cierra, Lakema, Zamar, Kamarion, Skylar, Kailey-Rose, Miracle, Antonio Jr; and Zaydan; a host of nieces, nephews, and other close relatives and friends.
