Sharon Juanita Bruce

It is with great sorrow that we inform you of the passing of Ms. Sharon J. Bruce.

Ms. Bruce, formerly of Hartsville, SC, passed away on Friday, September 19, 2025, in Brooklyn, NY.

Arrangements will be announced by Davis Funeral Home, LLC of Hartsville, SC.

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thy own upstanding. In all thy ways, acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths”              Proverbs 3: 5-6

 “If you’re reading this, I am no longer here. I have left this earth to be with the Lord. I was born January 24, 1963, and passed September 19, 2025. I am the daughter of the late Rosa Lee Bruce and the late Walter Bruce.

 I moved to New York at the age of four with my mom and my two older siblings. I was educated in the New York City Education System. I joined the US Army Reserve on May 17, 1990, where I dedicated twenty-five years of service. I served one tour of duty over sea in Operation Enduring Freedom from 2007 – 2009. On January 24, 1992, I was appointed to The Department of Correction City of New York where I dedicated twenty-two years of service. In 2013, I wanted to further my education, so I enrolled in DeVry Business College.

 I leave to cherish my fond memories: her daughter Erica Bruce (Vernon); grandchildren Brandon Manuel, Jr; J’Nay, J’Nya, Jazmin, Jae Chappelle and Emma L Johnson; great grandson Kario Manuel; siblings Walter Bruce, Sondja Bruce, Alfonso Bruce, Le Vann Bruce and Andre (Michelle) Bruce; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins and other close relatives and my God-children: Jordan Bradford, Myles Davis, and Leah Perine; My Childhood Friends: Karen McDonough, Yvonne Hough, and Keith Greer. 

Thank you to all the people who helped me along the way. Those who loved me, assisted me, cared for me, laughed with me, and taught me things so that I could have a wonderful, happy life. I was blessed beyond measure by knowing all of you. Until we meet again.
