Willie Mae Linton

It is with sorrow that we inform you of the passing of Mrs. Willie Mae Linton.

Mrs. Linton passed away on Friday, July 24, 2026.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 30, 2026, and Friday, July 31, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at 85 Middendorf Road, Hartsville, SC.

Arrangements will be announced by Davis Funeral Home, LLC, of Hartsville, SC.

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10 

Mother Willie Mae Linton was a servant of God and an example of Christ to her family and everyone that she met. She loved the Lord and loved telling the story of how he came into her life and changed her forever.

 Willie Mae Linton was born March 27, 1934, to the late James Edward and Annie E. Hawkins Linton. On Friday, July 24, 2026, the angel of death sealed the lips of our faithful mother, Willie Mae Linton, with her family by her bedside.

 After graduating from Pine Forest High School in McBee, SC, class of 1953, Willie Mae moved to Brooklyn, New York. She joined Tabernacle of Prayer for All People in Jamaica, New York, under the founder and leadership of Apostle Johnnie Washington. There she attended Bible Classes and received a Certificate of Award. She often accompanied the pastor on various church trips and was a dependable prayer warrior. 

After working various jobs, Willie Mae was employed in the nursery at The Brooklyn Hospital Center, Dekalb Avenue. In 1990 after 28 years, she retired and moved back to Middendorf Community and joined Nathan Temple FBH Church in Hartsville, SC, where she was a prayer warrior and often visited The Living Church in the Lord Jesus Christ in McBee, SC until her health declined. She received the Greatest Mom Award from Nathan Temple FBH Church. She also received a certificate of Achievement Award from Brooklyn School of Dressmaking and Designing. 

Two of Willie Mae’s favorite songs were: The Blood Will Never Lose Its Power and Yes, God is Real. 

Mother Willie Mae found great joy in making gifts for the residents at the nursing home. She cherished the opportunity to visit with them, pray alongside them, and offer words of love, hope, and encouragement reminding them to hold steadfast to their faith. 

Mother Linton was preceded in death by: her son, Gregory Hooks; parents, James Edward and Annie E. Hawkins Linton; and siblings: Carey Lee, Edward Jr., David, Ralph, Waites, Carolyn, Shirley and Yvonne. 

She leaves to cherish her memories: her daughter, Katrina (Howard) McLeod; three granddaughters: Iesha McLeod, Najla (Gary) Purdy and Nyesha Mae (Akido) Houston; grandson, Ricky (Stacy) McLeod; eleven great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; sibling: Cornelia Carr; favorite cousin, Florence Pouncey; aunt, Dorothy Hawkins; two brothersin-law, Herbert Dingle and Curtis Campbell; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
