Wilson “Bug” Cuffie, Jr.

It is with sorrow that we inform you of the passing of Mr. Wilson “Bug” Cuffie, Jr.

Mr. Cuffie passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2026 at Novant Health Medical Center in Wilmington, NC.

The family will receive friends at: 1228 Foremost Road, Hartsville, SC.

Arrangements will be announced by Davis Funeral Home, LLC, of Hartsville, SC.

Mr. Wilson Cuffie, Jr. was born March 5, 1962, in Hartsville, SC to Marie T. Brown and Wilson Cuffie, Sr. Wilson departed this earthly life on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at Novant Health Medical Center in Wilmington, NC. 

Mr. Wilson, affectionately known as “Bug” attended Darlington County public schools where he received his foundational education. He obtained his high school diploma from Butler High School, Class of 1980. After graduating, he pursued higher education at Francis Marion University. During the mid-1980s, he made New Jersey his home and continued his education at the Pharmacy Medical School in Philadelphia.

 A devoted member of Pike Creek AME Church in Burgaw, NC, Wilson found strength and fellowship in his faith. 

Wilson was a retired caregiver. He dedicated much of his life to caring for others. His compassion and patience touched everyone he helped, reflecting that it was his true calling. Wilson formed many lasting friendships throughout his life and career. 

His hobbies included cooking, grilling, and fishing—simple pleasures that brought him joy and relaxation. 

Wilson was preceded in death by: his father, Wilson Cuffie, Sr.; grandmother, Grace Williams; grandfather, Nathaniel Williams; aunts, Minnie Mae Williams and Katie Mae George; and uncles: Hayward Williams, Nathaniel Williams Jr., and Sam Williams.

 Wilson leaves a legacy of love and fond memories with: his loving mother, Marie T. Brown of Hartsville; life partner, Susette McKnight of Wilmington, NC; son, Chase Cuffie of New Mexico; stepchildren: Edward McKnight of SC, Donnell (Teresa) McKnight and Chester (Chelle) Bland Jr. of GA, Terrence (Leah) McKnight of TX, and Suzette Bland of NC; aunts and uncles, Gracie (Cleveland) Hicks of Moncks Corner, SC and Sarah Williams Price Morris of Newark, NJ; twenty grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, friends and other close relatives. 

Wilson’s life was a testament to love, faith, and service. His memory will continue to inspire his family and friends, reminding all who knew him of the beauty of a well-lived life and a heart that cared deeply.
